COVID-19 PROTOCOLS 2020-2021

Please read the following COVID-19 Protocols carefully prior to programs beginning. The studio has the right to make changes to these protocols as needed, in accordance with Government and Public Health regulations and protocols.

General Areas within the Studio

  • All staff are screened every day prior to beginning work in the studio
  • Students are required to be screened prior to entering the studio premises; if symptoms are present, please do not enter the premises, and notify the studio immediately
  • Masks must be worn at all times in all areas of the studio (some exceptions for dancers – please see below) unless exempt (this includes change rooms, rest rooms, etc.)
  • If students forget to bring their mask with them, the studio will provide them with a disposable, non-medical grade mask, and a $2.00 charge will be added to their account (per mask)
  • Parents/guardians are not permitted to wait within the studio during their child’s class or lesson, but may wait in the lobby area of the building (parents/guardians may enter the studio to take care of business or to purchase dance or studio attire, as long as protocols are followed)
  • Students are asked to arrive a maximum of five minutes prior to their class or lesson beginning (unless taking part in Study Hall)
  • Parents/guardians of young children are permitted (and required) to drop off and pick up their child within the studio, while maintaining proper social distancing protocols, but may not wait within the studio during class
  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available in all rooms of the studio, and everyone will be required to use it (or wash their hands) upon entry
  • Floor markings and signs will be in place to remind students of social distancing protocols
  • The studio has purchased two fogger machines, and will be using Vital Oxide (a sanitizer approved by Health Canada to kill the Covid-19 virus) to sanitize all studios at the end of each day. High touch points (such as door handles, light switches, faucets, surfaces, etc) will be sanitized regularly throughout the day.

Cleaning: The studio has purchased two fogger machines, and will be using Vital Oxide (a sanitizer approved by Health Canada to kill the Covid-19 virus) to sanitize all studios at the end of each day. High touch points (such as door handles, light switches, faucets, surfaces, etc) will be sanitized regularly throughout the day.

**If the studio is required to close again at any point throughout the season, all group classes (including dance and other) will continue virtually.

Areas within the Music Studios

  • Music lessons will continue in person at the studio for those that are comfortable
  • Music lessons in schools are suspended until further notice (the CDSBEO is not permitting community use of their schools at this time); they have stated they will be reassessing community use soon
  • Virtual music lessons are available for those interested (or a hybrid of in person and virtual is an option)
  • If a student needs to miss a lesson due to Covid-19 symptoms, the lesson will be taught virtually (normal studio policies will apply)
  • Voice lessons that are taught in-person will make use of a clear barrier between the student and teacher
  • High touch points (such as door handles, light switches, faucets, etc) will be sanitized regularly
  • Keyboards will be sanitized between lessons in each studio
  • Vital Oxide will be used in fogger machines at the end of each day

**If the studio is required to close again at any point throughout the season, all group classes (including dance and other) will continue virtually. Private music lessons will move to virtual lessons for those interested.

Areas within the Dance Studios

  • Dance classes will continue in person for those that are comfortable
  • Virtual dance classes will be available via Zoom, synchronously with regular classes
  • Students may switch between in-person and virtual classes at any point, provided the studio is informed (class caps include both in-person and virtual students)
  • Studio floors will be taped into 6ft boxes (one dancer per box), and dancers are not required to wear masks while in their box*
  • Any activities with dancers outside of their own boxes (ie across the floor work) requires masks to be worn
  • Masks must be worn in all other areas of the studio (rest rooms, change rooms, hallways, etc)
  • Classes are scheduled to stagger beginning and end times between each dance studio, to limit traffic within the studio
  • High touch points (such as door handles, light switches, faucets, etc) will be sanitized regularly and between each class
  • Vital Oxide will be used in fogger machines at the end of each day

*This protocol will be followed as long as the Province or Public Health officials require it; it may be changed throughout the year, to either add or take away the taped boxes

**If the studio is required to close again at any point throughout the season, all group classes (including dance and other) will continue virtually. Refunds will not be given for costumes already purchased, or competition fees already paid (unless the competition issues refunds or credits).
